RE-Building Ecologies

The Rice-FIFA Sustainability Committee commissioned a series of outdoor, temporary sustainability installations to be sited in and under the live oak grove at Rice Entrance-1 at Rice University. The Rice-FIFA Sustainable Ecologies Installation served as a key feature of Rice’s public-facing showcase during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Houston activations.
As part of this initiative, the stored materials from the Building Ecologies installation at POST Houston, were re-purposed and re-used to give a second life to this lightweight structure. Although unfinished and unperfect, this intent represents the best values of an interdisciplinary, collaborative and experimental academic and research path with the unwavering mission to open new paths bridging science, arts, and architecture.
