Abstract
In works by Rem Koolhaas, Miguel Fisac, and Louis Kahn, the interpretation of space in response to large span structures commonly used in industrial buildings and - particularly - to our current understanding of the spatial potential of structural hollowness, are the two key parameters that emerge in the search for a holistic approach to contemporary design. Space and structure are increasingly fused in a new architectural paradigm that
is based on a stereotomic model: architectural space, and structural hollowness.
