Abstract
The objective of the studio is to unfold holistic design strategies to retrofit existing rooftop areas on residential buildings through the development and articulation of multiple design questions. However, the final aspiration extends beyond this specific goal. Ultimately, the studio aims to rethink the role of contemporary tools, materials, and technologies in the definition of collective
infrastructures and new spaces for social interaction. Nevertheless, this massive challenge requires an active involvement of public and private institutions and a close collaboration between disciplines. Moreover, it demands the recovery of the architect as an essential figure to lead and coordinate these multiple questions, teams, and forces to build our future cities in harmonic balance with nature.
